From the Villány-Siklós region in Southern Hungary, winemaker Csaba Malatinszky's fragrant and floral blend of Chardonnay (55%), (German) Riesling (40%), and Muscat Ottonel (5%) was Decanter's "Best Old World White" in their December 2010 Edition.
The nose is floral with herbs, and a hint of citrus and grape notes. Vibrant palate with refreshing acidity and fine minerality with a surprisingly long finish. A very well-balanced wine with structure – almost akin to Sauvignon Blanc.
The Serena is in part organic, and will be completely organic for the next vintage. It is made entirely from free run juice and has been fermented at controlled temperature levels in stainless steel - with 5 months of battonage.
"Silver pale, floral white fruits, layered and refreshing, excitingly new." Steven Spurrier - Best Old World White - Dec 10,
